If you can’t find a piano donation program available in your area, some nationwide charities like the Salvation Army or Goodwill might also take pianos, depending on their condition, size and age. So pianos that are a hundred years old are not worth much unless it is a top notch brand like Steinway, Mason n Hamlin and etc. Pianos require maintenance and do have mileage and wear and tear. Plus a hundred year old piano isn’t necessarily a good thing or necessarily an antique. If you can get the piano on its back, you can remove the casters, then the legs, which are screwed under the front casters, then the keybed. Some of the crucial parts for disassembly are hard to reach. You may need help to keep from having things fall on you. The biggest danger is the weight of the components. Offer it to them as sold as seen with local pickup only. More often than not, someone will be willing to take your piano off your hands for you. You may want to go to the local classified boards, or classified ad sites such as craigslist or Gumtree. Piano Disposal Cost Getting rid of a piano costs about $200 to $300, depending on the type of piano and any difficulty involved in getting it out of the home.
